This Hydroponic farm was designed to grow a variety of leafy greens. And by making use of the vertical space the yield of the farm was significantly increased without the need for additional infrastructure and land investment.
Vertical farming really addresses the ever increasing need for agricultural space by making the best use of the space that is already available. Not only that, but these smart farms can be set up in commercial and urban areas using abandoned our unused infrastructure, such as car parks and rooftops, as well as office buildings and tunnels.
If these centralized farms see the broad based adoption we hope for, the supply chain's and logistic costs around food production will be dramatically reduced. This will not only reduce costs for the consumer, but will also make a substantial environmental difference regarding the reduction in Co2 emissions associated with produce farming.
